Network Architecture

Our three-tier architecture is designed for maximum redundancy, lowest latency, and infinite scalability.

Tier 1 — Core Backbone

The heart of BoyDJ's network. Our core backbone interconnects five geographically diverse data centers via redundant 100 Gbps DWDM fiber rings. Each core node features fully redundant routing engines, power supplies, and cooling — no single point of failure exists at any layer.

  • Technology: DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) on diverse physical paths
  • Capacity: 12+ Tbps aggregate across all backbone links
  • Routing: IS-IS for IGP, BGP for external peering with full table
  • Redundancy: N+1 at every component level; automatic failover <50ms
  • Hardware: Juniper PTX & MX series, Cisco NCS 5500

Tier 2 — Aggregation & Distribution

Regional aggregation points distribute traffic between the core and access layers. Each aggregation node is connected to at least two core nodes via diverse fiber paths, ensuring uninterrupted service even during fiber cuts or core node maintenance.

  • Topology: Dual-homed to core with 100 Gbps uplinks
  • QoS: 8-class DiffServ model prioritizing voice, video, and critical business traffic
  • MPLS: Full L3VPN and L2VPN (VPLS/EVPN) support for enterprise customers
  • Segment Routing: SR-MPLS with TI-LFA for sub-50ms convergence

Tier 3 — Access & Last Mile

The final hop connecting customer premises to our network. We deploy a mix of fiber, fixed wireless, and Ethernet-based technologies to ensure optimal last-mile delivery regardless of location constraints.

  • Fiber: GPON, XGS-PON, and Active Ethernet — up to 100 Gbps to premises
  • Wireless: Licensed microwave (6-80 GHz), unlicensed 60 GHz (V-band), and 5G FWA
  • Copper: G.fast and VDSL2 bonding for legacy infrastructure reuse
  • Handoff: Single-mode fiber (SMF) with SFP/SFP+/QSFP28 optics

Peering & Interconnection

Direct peering eliminates intermediary networks — reducing latency, improving throughput, and lowering transit costs.

Public Peering (IXPs)

We maintain presence at 35+ internet exchange points globally including AMS-IX, DE-CIX, LINX, Equinix IX, and Any2. Route servers at each IXP enable instant peering with hundreds of networks through a single BGP session — dramatically reducing hop counts to major destinations.

Average latency to top 100 websites: <5ms from any core node

Private Network Interconnects (PNI)

For our highest-traffic peers — including Google, Netflix, Akamai, Cloudflare, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta — we maintain dedicated 100 Gbps private interconnects. These direct fiber connections bypass the public internet entirely, providing the lowest possible latency and highest throughput for content delivery.

Bandwidth Protocols & Technologies

The protocols and standards that power every byte of traffic on the BoyDJ network.

🔀

BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)

Full internet routing table with intelligent path selection based on AS-path length, local preference, and MED. Multi-homed to 15+ Tier 1 providers for optimal route diversity.

🏷️

MPLS / Segment Routing

Label-switched paths for traffic engineering and VPN services. SR-MPLS with TI-LFA guarantees sub-50ms protection switching on any link failure.

📐

QoS (Quality of Service)

8-class DiffServ model ensuring voice, video, and real-time applications receive guaranteed bandwidth even during peak utilization. No packet loss for EF-class traffic.

🌊

DWDM (Dense WDM)

Up to 96 wavelengths per fiber pair, each carrying 100 Gbps or 400 Gbps. Coherent optics with flex-grid for maximum spectral efficiency on long-haul routes.

🔐

MACsec / IPsec

Line-rate encryption at Layer 2 (MACsec) for metro links and Layer 3 (IPsec) for WAN connections. 256-bit AES encryption with zero throughput degradation.

📊

NetFlow / sFlow / Telemetry

Per-flow and streaming telemetry providing real-time visibility into traffic patterns, utilization trends, and anomaly detection across every interface in the network.
